Boy Scouts of America Troop 681 was founded in the early 1970's. Currently Troop 681 has produced more than 50 Eagle Scouts. The Troop holds one meeting a week on Mondays at San Rafael Parish in Rancho Bernardo. Troop 681 is run by the boys using the "Patrol Method". Our Scout Troop is divided into Patrols of about 5-8 boys each. A Patrol leader is elected within each Patrol. The younger scouts are also assigned to a special group under the leadership of the Troop Guide. The Troop Guide is an older, senior Scout who helps the newer scouts. This provides the boys with the opportunity to learn skills, leadership and teamwork. A formal program exists to take boys through the rank of First Class Scout. Further advancement depends on the initiative of the individual scout. The Committee is comprised of parents and the scout Senior patrol leader. It provides adult supervision and guidance. The Committee meets once a month, typically the last Thursday of the month. Parents are encouraged to attend and participate. The future success of the troop depends on active parental involvement. |
